"The Colours of Malaysia" is Kuen Stephanie's warm and lavish celebration of the richness and diversity of Malaysian life.
She captures in vivid colours and sumptuous detail, the uniqueness of each culture. "Each painting is part of a series of highlighting a particular ethnic group, but taken in totality the pieces selected depict the kaleidoscope of cultures that is Malaysia," Kuen pointed out.
While anyone would be able to appreciate the beauty of the work it would take a Malaysian who was around in the 1960s or 70s to understand these pieces and value them fully. They evoke a remembrance of things both passed and passing.
